Critical Window
A free, open source strategy game about the AI race. Govern the US or China through 16
quarters to 2030: chips and energy, alignment you cannot verify, a rival you cannot read,
a society that keeps score. Every number in the game is source-backed or a labeled design
choice, and the full evidence map is published in the repository.
The game runs entirely in your browser and needs JavaScript to play. There are no
accounts, no tracking and no telemetry. The only network requests are for the game's own
static files.
Your first turn, so you know what you are choosing to load: you split the quarter's
research capacity between capability, safety and diffusion, enact one policy card, answer
a memo with no clean options, and then the world moves. Your alignment report comes back
as a range, not a number, and that is the game.
Without JavaScript you can still read everything:
the source code,
the source registry,
the evidence map
and
the privacy claims.
